Personalised Parenting Plans

A personalised parenting plan is YOUR family’s roadmap for clarity and stability.

At Parenting Matters, many clients come to us soon after separation, when there’s no parenting plan in place.

The questions pile up quickly:

  • Where will the children live?
  • What is our parenting schedule?
  • How do changeovers work?
  • Who takes the kids to sport?
  • When will grandparents see them?
  • What happens in school holidays and on birthdays?
  • Who’s responsible for extracurriculars?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Can I talk to the kids when they’re not with me?

Why choose a Personalised Parenting Plan?

Parenting Matters helps you reorganise your family systems with your children’s best interests at the centre.

We guide you through the details you may not have thought of – the public holidays, the pupil-free days, what each parent provides in their own home – and facilitate the tough discussions about your non-negotiables.

When to use Parenting Coordination

Step 1: Intake

Each parent completes a short questionnaire and attends a private one-on-one session. This gives both parents the chance to share openly and feel comfortable before any joint discussions.

Step 2: Draft

We prepare the first version of your Personalised Parenting Plan based on the information provided in intake.

Step 3: Review

You’ll receive a draft within 15 business days, with key items flagged that may need further discussion or alignment points.

Step 4: Revisions

Two structured rounds of revisions are included, so you can refine the plane until it reflects your family’s needs and values.

Step 5: Final plan

Within 60 days, your plan is ready. It can be reviewed by your solicitor, used in FDR mediation, or serve as a living agreement between co-parents.

We know no two families are the same. That’s why we build in time for clarification and discussion, while keeping the process consistent and timely so you’re not left in limbo.

Are Parenting Plans legally binding?

Our plans are initially designed as an informal agreement without court approval. While parents may choose to follow it in good faith, there is no legal enforcement of the plan for either parent.

Your plan can serve as the foundation for consent orders or be reviewed in FDR mediation.

We prepare plans for your lawyer to review, ensuring you understand your rights and responsibilities before anything is formalised.

This approach avoids costly, adversarial court processes while still giving you a framework to build on legally if required.
