Parenting Coordination

Co-parenting after separation is rarely smooth sailing.

Minor disagreements – birthday parties, after-school activities, scheduling, social media limits, even the contents of a changeover bag – can spiral into major conflict.

As an experienced accredited mediator, family dispute practitioner and certified Parenting Coordinator, Ellie Terry provides a neutral point of contact to untangle day-to-day disputes, support co-parenting challenges and keep kids out of the crossfire.

“There’s no right or wrong in any co-parenting discussion; the aim is to keep problem-solving fair with the emphasis on accountability, not blame.”

Why choose Parenting Matters for Parenting Coordination

Clear boundaries and agreed-upon criteria are documented and reviewed in joint sessions.

Focus on sustainable decision-making, not finger-pointing.

Ellie services as a certified Parenting Coordinator, offering a professional alternative to repeated trips back to lawyers or court.

Sessions are short-term, online and costs are usually shared.

Parenting Coordination provides support and guidance, but parents retain control over their decisions. Since it is voluntary, parents maintain the autonomy to accept or reject the coordinator’s suggestions.

The Parenting Coordinator may provide recommendations or guidance based on the discussions and the families’ needs, but these suggestions do not carry legal authority. This is particularly helpful if you’re between FDR mediation and or awaiting court proceedings.

Ellie can help parents address the day-to-day that supports your overall legal journey.

The Parenting Matters approach

Ellie brings a matter-of-fact, warm but no-nonsense style. She uses a consistent framework to:

  • Anchor strong communication protocols.
  • Support collaboration between co-parents.
  • Provide clarity on the practical implementation of parenting orders or plans.
  • Keep the focus on kids, not conflict.

This FDRP-led approach supports parents in creating practical parenting arrangements that reduce conflict and improve long-term outcomes for families.

How it works

Step 1: Engagement

Parenting Coordination can be entered by consent (with a Parenting Plan) or ordered by the court.

Step 2: Scheduling

Sessions are held online at agreed times, giving both parents equal access without disruption.

Step 3: Shared costs

Fees are usually divided between both parties.

Step 4: Short-term focus

Sessions are structured with regular check-ins for accountability and progress.

Step 5: Resolution

Most matters are resolved within months, avoiding repeated trips back to lawyers or court.
